We know but don’t always do

23 May

There is the natural tendency to shop and run errands where you work because its easy to do so at lunch or on the way home. With almost 90% of working Huttoites working outside the city, that means a lot of money ends up elsewhere than Hutto businesses. If we want more small businesses we need to support what we have now, not always an easy task, and sometimes impossible because what we want can’t be found here – men’s clothing for example. But many things can be from gifts to jewelry to hair salons to services and clinics. When you shop locally it also means a portion of the taxes on your purchases come back to Hutto rather than going to Round Rock or Austin, etc. When it comes to dining out Hutto has an array of restaurants from fast food to sit down dining plus at least five that offer drinks. If we wish to keep those choices we need to remember them as good options when we want to eat out. And now we even have a small grocery store on East St. where fresh produce and other products are available.
As I said, we all know this but too often we don’t follow it.
